ABOUT LARAE OF LIFEWORK IMAGES

American, b.1976
Born and raised in the beautiful countryside of Otis Orchards, Washington, LaRae Lobdell began photographing during her last year of college in 1997. In 1998 she studied with portrait photographer Gregory Mordick in Spokane (for six months), who inspired her to dedicate her life to capture the hearts of people, resulting in her own portrait and wedding photography business.

In 2003, motivated to exhibit an essay of her work, LaRae threw herself into her local community for her first public art show "Working Artists of Fremont." The two requirements she set were that the subjects/artists be actively creating and selling art and also be living or working in Fremont - a free-thinking neighborhood in Seattle, Washington. The goal for this ongoing project was to capture and express to the community, the artists' process of creation, and to celebrate and illuminate their strength and talent.

The continuation of the project was put on a temporary hold while in 2004, she took a two-year hiatus to study and work with photographers Roger Ressmeyer and Natalie Fobes, respectively.

Now working from her home in Seattle, Washington, she is actively pursuing various editorial projects. Her assignments have taken her from Washington State to Idaho, Oregon, Texas, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Hawaii, France, Italy, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and 34 of the continental United States during a 10,053-mile, four-week road trip.

By means of communicating, investing and connecting herself to her subjects she is continually putting forth emotionally connected, poignant and truthful photographs.
